Who I Am
Kelly Aumack Marrone
After attending Montclair State College, pursuing a BFA in Fine Arts & Graphic Design, I entered the world of retail, full time. Thirty five years later, I find myself pursuing my passion, and working for myself, rather than a corporation. Having time to really dive into what makes me tick, is something I am extremely excited about. I have always dabbled in all things creative- drawing, photography, decorating, painting & more. It’s creating, that makes me lose track of time, and that’s how I know, it is where I am meant to be.
My first ever dresser rehab, was way back in the 80’s, while home on break from school, & I paid $15 cash, for an old wooden dresser. I was a little wild then, and stained it green…lime green.( it was the 80’s baby!) I did not stop there, I used a comb, to create lines of pattern and my older sister, Christine, held onto that monstrosity, forever. I am only sorry I do not have a pic to share with You. It was really bad, but I loved it. Taking something old & worn down, and breathing new life into it, is so satisfying. I truly enjoy the process, and admittedly dread some of the prep, but who doesn’t love a good reveal?
I have since retrieved countless numbers of forgotten pieces, from the curbs, around town, & through my friends & family. Do You want this old dresser?? YES, Yes, I do….I cannot say no. Estate sales are my new obsession, ( thank You sister Megan!), and I am happy to keep the inventory growing. With each piece I acquire, I try to find out a little something about the original owner and ask myself, ” what has this dresser seen? Who has owned her? Where has it travelled? It’s all a part of the process….
Born & raised a JOISEY girl, from a large Irish Catholic family in Shrewsbury, NJ, I was the only one who pursued an “impractical” field of art. Despite having a 30+ year detour, of sorts, I am back to my roots, and I would love to help You land on the perfect piece of furniture.
Details Matter!
Ahhhh, they say the devil is in the details, and I couldn't agree more. The lining chosen for the drawers, or the color of the hardware...it all matters. Maybe we need to preserve the piece's original beauty, or turn it on it's head, & breathe new life, into her? Let's decide together, or allow me to dabble in possibilities. Either way, we will land a unique piece, uniquely yours.

Another great lost & found example, where it was someone's trash, but now treasure. Stripped, cleaned up & used a transfer of colorful flowers, for fun.
Claimed from a couple who kept it as a heirloom, but never got around to updating her. She is in my own home, as I could not part ways, once she was all dolled up. Done with an chalk paint, some copper paste, & new knobs. Gorgeous!
A sister grab & find, with gorgeous blue chalk paint for my beach loving friend, who now has it all to herself. The cleaned up, original hardware, makes it truly authentic & classic.
Roadside trash, to treasure. I found this laying in the street, during one of my neighborhood walks, and immediately returned to salvage it. It is a Jacobean style, made by a Michigan based company, between the years of 1874 & 1927, by Berkey & Gay.
This was a big brother find! Solid wood with 4 brass hooks, cleaned up & fabulous. Gray stain, with black wax, to highlight her grooves =)
The Jules Dresser! Basset furniture. well made, solid oak. But needed some updating. New hardware, and gorgeous green melange paint. Decoupaged only 2 top drawers. White washed top. Love it!
A gorgeous pair of tables, with beautiful legs & details. Done in white & brass hardware, with distressing. What a difference it made.
Gorgeous antique piece, from a NYC furniture company that is no longer around. Soooo heavy & well-made, I was hesitant to do anything but I did preserve the top, with walnut stain, and added a lovely black & white liner to the drawers. Black hardware, makes it really POP!
